Invisalign - Before/After

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign are types of invisible clear braces / aligners used to straighten teeth discreetly, without affecting the daily routine of the patient. These are custom made, comfortable, removable and clear aligners which are replaced every 2 weeks till the teeth are in the final projected position.

Life Benefits Of Invisible Braces?

– Straighter teeth are healthier teeth as there are no gaps for plaque to build up over time.
– Having an attractive smile will have a positive effect on your confidence.
– Orthodontics are a long-term investment in your oral health.
– Thanks to fixed permanent retention you can be assured that your teeth won’t move after treatment is completed.

Why Invisalign?

-Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible. No one may be aware that you’re wearing these almost invisible aligners, making Invisalign a very smooth fit with your daily routine and day-to-day interactions with others.

-Invisalign aligners are removable giving you the flexibility to eat and drink what you want during treatment by simply removing the aligners. And you can also remove the aligners to brush and floss as you usually would for fresh breath and to maintain good oral health.

-There are no metal brackets or wires like traditional braces and no ‘train tracks’! This means that in most cases less time is spent in your Invisalign Provider’s practice for any changes needed.

-And finally, Invisalign allows you to view your virtual results and treatment plan before you even begin treatment so you can see how your teeth are expected to look when your treatment is complete.

Is it necessary to wear a retainer after completion of the Invisalign treatment?

Yes, it is important to wear a retainer post treatment as it keeps the teeth in a stable new position. The dentist will direct on the use of the retainer, in most cases it is the last aligner tray which works like a temporary retainer. The Invisalign provider will guide you for long term retention options.

Are there any side effects?

Invisalign Aligners may have a slight effect on speech after they are first fitted causing a lisp. However this is mostly temporary and patients get used to the appliance very soon and can be removed if there a need called for like important meetings, speeches etc.

What are the advantages over traditional braces?

The main advantage of Invisalign Aligners is that they do not hamper the smile while they do their work.

There are no ugly metal ‘train tracks’ or metal bands to hold the wires in place and are very comfortable to wear.

These are can removed when called for, unlike permanent braces, particularly when you eat or during dental treatment.

They are easy to maintain as they are removable and so oral hygiene can be kept to a good standard by the patient.

Is the Invisalign treatment painful?

A few individuals may encounter temporary, minor distress for some days, towards the start of each new phase of treatment when they use the next aligner. This is generally a feeling of pressure and is considered quite normal. It is a sign that the aligners are working – moving your teeth steadily, helping you to accomplish the desired results. This uneasiness commonly goes away in two or three days.

How long does the treatment take?

The total duration of treatment depends on the complexity of the treatment. Typically treatment can last between 9 and 18 months. During your consultation, your dentist can provide you with more detailed information.

How often must I see the dentist once I have started the treatment

Appointment intervals are generally the same as with traditional braces but can be much quicker with less time spent in the dentists’ or orthodontists’ chair during appointments as no adjustments need to be made to wires/brackets. Patients typically visit the dentist every 4 to 6 weeks to ensure the treatment is progressing as planned, and to receive their next few sets of Invisalign aligners. The dentist will decide on the basis of treatment.

What is the minimum age of the patient that can receive Invisalign treatment?

With experience, an Invisalign Provider Dentist can use Invisalign to treat malocclusion for a majority of adults and adolescents. For teenagers, there are special Invisalign Teen Aligners which may be the right treatment option for your child.

What are the Aligners made up of?

The Invisalign aligners are made of strong medical grade thermoplastic material, uniquely developed for the System. The aligners are customised according to the patient and fit snugly over your teeth.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign aligners move teeth with an appropriate placement of controlled movement on the teeth. Invisalign controls the amount of movement per aligner and also the timing of the movement which is very different to traditional braces. So at each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, as per the Invisalign treatment plan for that particular stage. This results in an efficient force delivery system that moves teeth into the desired prescribed position.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is the almost invisible way to straighten your teeth and achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of. Using advanced 3D computer-imaging technology, the dentist can predict and depict the entire course of treatment from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. Then a series of clear aligners are custom-made for your teeth only –to move them little by little. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series, gradually moving towards the projected final position.
