What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants offer a permanent solution for your missing teeth. A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth.
Life Benefits Of Dental Implants?
– When you lose your natural teeth, your jaw bone and surrounding tissues start to resorb or disappear over time. When implants are placed in the jaw, it stimulates the remaining bone to grow & mesh around the metal, slong with tiny blood vessels.
– Implants help restore function so you can eat, chew, and bite as usual.
– Implants are a natural looking way to replace missing teeth.
Denture Stabilization with Dental Implants
If you have loose or ill-fitting dentures, your ability to eat or speak may become affected. Thanks to advances in dentistry, there is a new procedure whereby your denture can be fixed to your jaw with dental implants.
This treatment, known as implant overdentures or denture stabilization, offers patients with dentures a more permanent solution and can improve your quality of life significantly.. You will be able to enjoy your favourite foods again and feel comfortable when smiling, safe in the knowledge that your dentures are staying put.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Dental Concepts for my implant treatment?
At Dental Concepts, We have experienced and skilled implant surgeons with a combined experience of about 19 years in placing implants. We use very well researched and well respected implant systems like Osstem and Ankylos. As a team, we pride ourselves of having well trained implant co-ordinators and nurses along the state of the art technology and equipment which will assure our patients and us of the quality of treatment provided. Remember, we expect our implants to last for a very long time, possibly even for life, so there really isn’t any justification for taking a cost cutting approach to such an important subject.
In choosing a clinic, we always recommend patients to look carefully at the training of the surgeons and dentists involved, the materials used and the long term back-up provided. It’s also a good idea to visit our practice and meet with some of the team. That way, you’ll be able to make your mind up very quickly. Our experience is that the decision rarely comes down to price.
Will the implant treatment be very expensive?
It is perfectly normal to consider carefully the cost of any serious investment. It is a lot to spend on your mouth and it is down to each individual patient to decide if the improvements to quality of life, function, confidence and appearance are worthwhile. We only ever prescribe treatment that is necessary and would like to reiterate the fact that we are always there for you for the very important after care and maintenance of the implant treatment which is very important.
Will the implant treatment be very painful?
This is one of the most common concerns for people thinking about having an implant.
The majority of implants are placed under a normal dental local anaesthetic. Though the local anaesthetic injections can sting a little, we have systems in place to reduce the pain by using very thin needles and warm anaesthetic. We also have a computerized injection system which is called the wand which can provide pain free injection. Once you are numb, you will not feel anything sharp or painful at all throughout your treatment. You will feel some pressing and pushing during the procedure as well as some vibration during the drilling stage, but this will not be sharp or painful in any way and your dentist will check to make sure you are completely numb before they start the surgery.
For bigger procedures such as multiple implants or complex cases, sedation can be provided. Sedation is not a general anaesthetic, but makes patients feel very comfortable and relaxed and they rarely remember much about the procedure afterwards which is an advantage for many nervous patients.
Once the anaesthetic has worn o you may need to take over-the-counter painkillers but is not unusual to have a very minimal level of pain or even no pain whatsoever. During the first few days after surgery, it’s possible the gum may feel a little sore as it heals and you might wish to stick to soft foods that are easy to eat. With a single dental implant, you should be fine to go back to work the next day.
If my tooth is removed, will I be left with a gap?
There are a few factors which can make it necessary to wait for healing after tooth removal before an implant can be placed; the main factor being if there is any sign of infection. If infection is present, we need to allow a healing phase of 8-12 weeks before we can place the implants.
There are some cases where we can go for Immediate Implants and then cover with immediate crowns or teeth, but that will depend on the suitability assessment done in the planning stage.
Don’t worry because you never need to have a gap if you don’t want one – there are all sorts of temporary solutions, both fixed and removable, to make sure there is no embarrassment at any stage through the implant process.
How long will the treatment take?
Normally the treatment times can be a little as 8-10 weeks from placement of the implant to fit of the final crown. However, sometimes treatment can take longer depending on the level of complexity of your case, with some patients not finishing for up to a year. The exact time frame will be ascertained from your comprehensive assessment including the CT scan done at the practice.
What happens if the implant fails? Is there any guaranty?
Any surgical procedure can have complications and dental implants are no exception. At the assessment stage, we look into all the potential side effects and complications if any and those are explained to the patient. If there are any contraindications present, we may defer or cancel the treatment.
When an implant is placed, your bone then needs to grow onto and fuse to the implant, in a process known as Osseo integration, if it is to become a firm foundation for a crown. In the unlikely event that your bone fails to grow onto an implant, we offer the choice of either a 50% refund, or to replace the implant completely free of charge one more time. We have usually found that patients wish to try again and that a second failure is exceptionally rare.
We do regularly audit our success rates and have seen about a 95% rate in the last year which is a very impressive figure. Trained and experienced surgeons, dentists, co-ordinators and nurses help in providing a quality treatment which should last a long time.
My teeth are missing for a long time, can I still have implants?
Normally yes – We will do a comprehensive implant assessment of the mouth and jaw bone which includes, study models, photographs and most important the 3D CT Scan which is in-house. We work with our experienced dental laboratories to give a long term solution for our patients.
Very rarely we will explain that there is not enough bone to safely work with implants and then we have to consider alternative dental options with you and your dentist.
Can I replace all my teeth with implants?
Yes we can and we are highly experienced at this pinnacle of dental implant treatments. You do not need one implant per tooth and can actually have as few as four implants to replace all of the upper or lower teeth. There are a variety of options for the type of bridgework supplied which can either be removable by you or fixed in place, so please see the relevant section of our website.
Can implants help with dentures?
Absolutely yes! Dentures are most patients’ nightmare due to the difficulty in wearing and the effect on all aspects of life. Small dentures can be replaced with just a few implants, or complete (full) dentures can either be held in position with implants, or of course replaced with implants all together – surely the most amazing dental transformation available. Implant supported dentures provide the much needed stability and confidence that the patient needs to eat and smile with ease.
Can I get my implant put at the time when the tooth is removed?
Yes, in some cases, our skilled surgeons and dentists can place an implant immediately after extraction in the socket, provided there is no infection around the socket and if it meets with all the suitable criteria gone through the assessment. It can then be covered with a temporary tooth till the healing takes place. But most of the times, it is better to wait for the healing to take place before placing dental implants.
Don’t worry because you need never have a gap – there are several temporary replacement solutions available to make sure there is no embarrassment at any stage through the implant process.
How long will the implant last?
If the integration is successful and the area is well cared for and maintained with regular reviews and monitoring, an implant should last a lifetime.
It is possible to chip a crown or bridge on implants in the same way that it is possible to chip a tooth and sometimes the outer screw over the implants may become loose which can be easily corrected. We recommend annual reviews with x-rays to check the bone levels around the implants in addition to your regular check-ups with your dentist. We offer an annual review and you can enter in one of our membership plans with check-ups and hygiene sessions to take care of the treated area.
Can I have dental implants if I am a smoker?
We now know that smoking does affect both natural teeth and implants. For natural teeth, smoking increases the risks of gum disease. For implants, smoking slightly increases the risks of complications at every stage of implant treatment. We would recommend to stop smoking to reduce any chances of implant failure in the long run.
The good news is that this increased risk if very slight and we successfully treat patients who are smokers every day at Dental Concepts.
Dental Implants are £2,500 (per implant). You can spread the cost up to 12 months with 0% interest (interest-free) or spread up to 60 months with a 7.9% interest. So this starts from about £51 per month for 60 months for one implant without any deposit.
I’m super thrilled with my new look and of all the cosmetic treatments available these days. I can honestly say this has made me the happiest. I feel completely different. From start to finish the whole journey has been totally surreal! I’m super thrilled with Dr Manish and the amazing job he’s done! I’d seen his work and knew he was an expert, but this result had surpassed all my expectations. What an investment this is! I can honestly say with hand on heart that for all the cosmetic treatments available, this has to be the absolute best ever!
I am so very glad that I engaged with Dental Concepts. My teeth looked awful; therein this often shattered my confidence but I did not want the perfect, totally straight, pristine solution…. quite the opposite, I simply wanted a dental solution that would bring back my former, natural and healthy appearance. Dental Concepts call that vision your new ‘smile’ and I can wholeheartedly say that my new ‘smile’ is absolutely fantastic, totally natural-looking and has brought back a new lease of confidence.
Had an implant fitted and cannot be more happier with my wellbeing & confidence – Superb service! 😀 Great team Xx
I first came to Dental Concepts in June when looking around different dentists for Invisalign. I saw Manish for a consultation and he was great from the start! The consultation covered everything I needed to know about Invisalign, what he recommended and if I was suitable. He was very in depth and I didn’t feel rushed or pressured, he was happy to be explaining it all and answering my questions. I will definitely be keeping Manish as my dentist, even after my treatment is completed!
I am very lucky to have my teeth done by Manish. The thing I love about my smile is that I am not worried about it; am not worried about is it the right angle, can you see the gap here, can you see that’s not quite straight… I can smile with confidence. If you want to have your teeth done, if you are worried about the way you look and it’s just your teeth that are letting you down, put your money into that guys, because it makes a huge difference, it has made a huge difference to me, its made a difference to my confidence! I am always smiling now.
At first wearing the braces felt strange and alien but I got used to them in about 10 days. They are discrete and comfortable and I don’t feel self-conscious at all. I would recommend them highly!

After spending many an evening reading reviews of dentists in the Hampshire area I came across Dental Concepts. I had considered getting veneers for many years but never gone ahead with it, but after reading reviews and visiting the Dental Concept website I decided to book myself in for a consultation. I am now so thankful that I did! From the first visit till the end of my treatment the staff and Manish could not have been nicer.
Thank you to all at Dental Concepts 👍 Excellent treatment all the way through having two dental implants. Would recommend your services!

I would highly recommend this dental practice I had been suffering from tooth pain for the last few months I contacted my NHS dentist Several times, but due to COVID -19 lockdown and they were unable to see me. My pain became unbearable this week. I contacted my dentist again they didn’t call call me back as promised and I felt very let down by them. I called dental concepts at 5:15 Got the answer machine but didn’t leave a message as I thought they were closed . The receptionist called my number straight back asking if I needed any advice. I was treated the same day. Everything you want from your dentist.

Excellent service and thanks for a lovely looking smile 😃 Xx
After a lot of thought, it was decided that Invisalign would be the way to go to straighten my teeth. It was explained fully and the whole process has been so easy. The trays are easy to use & the result is better than I could have hoped. Thank you, Manish & team, for making “braces” such an easy time.
Being a photographer, I am constantly directing the shots. And making my clients feel at ease with a warm smile goes without saying. So after my front tooth broke for a second time this week the amazing Kass Verjee recommended Dr Manish Chitnis (thanks again Kass). Dr. Manish fitted me in on short notice and an hour after meeting I walked out of his office with a big, beautiful smile. I cannot express my gratitude.
I have wanted my teeth straightened for many years, but was worried what type of braces could be used. Invisalign is very easy to use. I saw Invisalign on FB, clicked on the link & found Manish at DC Andover: Overall, I am very happy with my bigger smile! Thank you to all of Team DC.
I would highly recommend Dental Concepts ( Andover), I have been in receipt of ongoing dental work since October 2020, the attention I have received has always been first class.
I was extremely surprised to be in and out of the dentist chair within 1.5 hours. The service was completely professional and quick. I was explained each procedure as we went along. There was no pain at all. I went in for 2 implants and here I am the evening after, feeling nothing at all. The surgery even phoned me this afternoon to see how I was feeling. All the staff were amazing. I would definitely recommend Dental Concepts.
